This is your chance to escape the winter blues and come join us at Lafayette’s Oceanfront Resort for Martin Luther King weekend. Just picture yourself sitting in the hot tub as the waterfall messages your back at 104° F while the outside temperature reaches 20° F (or lower) and the snow blankets the ground.
Quiet and serenity is the primary allure here in the wintertime, however this doesn’t mean that there is nothing to do. Mike’s Clam Shack will be open for its last weekend before closing for a month and the Maine Dinner will be opening on that weekend after being closed for a month. Nearby there is Kittery for shopping, a movie theatre a mile away and the Dover Children’s Museum for the kids, just to name a few.
We still have rooms available for Martin Luther King weekend, so come enjoy our oceanfront views, our indoor pool, our hot tub and our state of relaxation. The rates remain low and the views are a great value for between $55 and $99.

Greetings from Wells Beach! Take a fresh look at our Website. We have installed a new web cam on the side of the Motor Inn building. The web cam can be controlled by you while on your computer so that you can move the camera around and take a look around Casino Square and the beach. You can have control of the web cam for up to two minutes. It gives a bird’s eye view of Wells Beach. It is a fun way to see the beach. You can even zoom in and take a snapshot from the web cam. I hope that you enjoy it.
We made several upgrades this spring to many of our rooms. The rooms in the Annex building all got new 42-inch televisions. The rooms in Panorama and Deluxe all got new beds in June. The Oxcart rooms all got new granite vanities. We also remodeled the islands in the square, which make the entire beach area more pleasant. We put in new metal steps and railings in front of Panorama and Deluxe this spring as well. The town just recently repaired the stairs going down to the beach at the public access.
Come back to Wells Beach this summer and enjoy a room right on the beach!

A visit to the beach is a therapeutic way to leave the tension of work and life behind. We had beautiful weather here at Wells Beach this past weekend and more of the same is expected again this weekend. People were out walking along the beach, playing in the pool, enjoying the hot tub and eating lobster. The sunrises were beautiful and the moon rises were breath taking.
Every vacation, whether it is just a weekend getaway or longer, helps to increase your satisfaction with life, improve your family life, reduce stress and helps you to live longer. At this time of the year, the prices are very reasonable and the pleasure is still all there. Leave the stress behind and come visit us here in Maine, the way life should be. You deserve a break.

There is much that can be seen in the winter that cannot be seen during the
dog days of summer. Though it has been a very cold and snowy winter so
far, with the cold come a rare, beautiful and unique view of the ocean. In
the Picture above will you see what looks like steam rising off the ocean.
This is known as sea smoke and can be seen in extreme cold temperatures.
Imagine this view while you are nestled in your cozy oceanfront room.
As this weekend of love and school vacation approaches don’t forget all of what Lafayette’s Oceanfront Resort has to offer. From the breathtaking views from our oceanfront and ocean view rooms to our indoor pool (always at about 86 degrees) and our 17 foot long hot tub with a waterfall. Come for a night, a few days, a week and take it all in.

We have lost two members of our Wells Beach family this past month here at Lafayette’s Oceanfront Resort at Wells Beach.
Jennifer Joy Small was a housekeeper who has worked here during summers since 1998. She was a wife to Ivan, a mother of three children, all of whom she was able to see through college, and a friend to all of us here at Wells Beach. She was a hard worker and many of our guests have asked about her during the past few years when we were not able to get a visa for her to come back. We will all miss her.
Sharon Bayko was the head housekeeper here for many years. She has been battling cancer for the past several years. She was able to work throughout her struggles with cancer and showed us her strength of character and what a determined person can accomplish. She was a wonderful person who was a wife and a caretaker her husband Nicholas until his death last year. She was also the proud mother of three children and grandmother to seven. She was a strong leader in our housekeeping department and she has helped this property grow. She never wavered in her commitment to the high standards that she felt the property and the associate here were able to achieve. We will all miss her.
This poem was one of Sharon’s favorites and was very descriptive of her:
A Toast to all Unfinished Women
Here’s a toast to the unfinished women.
The ones who are never quite through.
The ones who find room on their plates for the tasks
That others aren’t able to do.
And a toast to the ones who can’t finish
All they set out to do in a day.
When they open their arms to embrace a new moment
Or take some time out just to play.
Cheers to those, too, whose hearts are unfinished
So they always have more love to give
And the ones who aren’t quite done having adventures
The ones who have dreams left to live.
Bless all of those unfinished women
Who can smile and confess when they are wrong.
The ones who don’t yet think they have all of the answers
The ones not done learning new songs.
And for those who make each day their schoolroom
If they’re taking a class or self-teaching
Whether seeking diploma, degree, or more knowledge
Toss your caps in the air for the ones who keep reaching.
Say a prayer for those unfinished women
When their world comes apart, not by choice,
As they struggle and grow once again to feel whole
Help them see they can find a new voice.
And for women to whom time is precious
Give them faith to see work left undone
As a road map for those whom they’ve cared for and taught
Not a battle that’s lost but war won.
Sound a cheer for each unfinished woman
Toast each unfinished soul, mind and heart.
For it’s unfinished business that keeps us all going
It’s the work left to do that makes living an art.

Hi, This is Katy Kelly and I am writing this from Lafayette’s Oceanfront Resort at Wells Beach. I am hopeful that this will be a new way for me to communicate to all of our guests. We have been working on trying to improve our communication with all of our guests through different means. We will still be mailing our brochures every spring to you. If you are not on that list, please call us at (207) 646-2831 and ask to be placed on the mailing list.
We will also be adding e-mail blasts so that we can let you know about anything going on in the area that might be of interest. I know that we all receive a lot of e-mails so I plan to try to keep it to a manageable amount.
We also now have a Facebook page in addition to our web site. This is an avenue that many people are now using to communicate with each other. I will be keeping this up to date as well.
If you look at our website, www.wellsbeachmaine.com, you will also see that we now have a video-postcard on the site. You can send this postcard to anyone at any time. It has a video of the hotel and the area and a place for you to put a personal message. Take a look at it. I think that you will like it.
We also have put gift certificates on the website. You will be able to purchase a gift certificate on line and we will mail it out to you. In addition to the gift certificates, I have started a small on-line gift shop. I hope to add to this over time.
All of this new technology still has not changed our goal of providing nice, clean rooms on the beach for you with friendly, personal service. We are looking forward to welcoming you back to Wells Beach. Please let me know about any changes or updates that you would like to see done in your room so that I can plan to get it done if possible. Have a great day!
